   Background.....

Dan Schauer formed PROFESSIONAL STAFFING CONSULTANTS in 1988, after five successful years with a national recruiting firm.  Over those five years, Dan earned the respect of many hiring authorities in the industry.  This respect was earned through the high degree of professionalism he exhibited with both candidate and employer alike.  This holds true as the cornerstone of PSC today.

Naturally, this professional is certified by the National Association of Personnel Consultants (CPC).  He has also contributed to his profession while serving on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Association of Personnel Services.

Prior to recruiting, Schauer, who has an M.S. in Counseling Psychology, devoted 12 years to solving problems as a family therapist. Therefore, he is adept at helping people make important decisions.  He also was on staff at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) serving as an instructor and as a counselor.

   Related Industries.....

The skills required to be a top-notch professional are not the exclusive domain of hydraulics.  For example:

an engineer who has been designing gear boxes or positive displacement pumps would be a good fit for many hydraulic companies.
A pneumatic valve engineer can easily transfer to hydraulics.
There are many professional salespeople who sell to the same market.  They may be light in technical knowledge but very strong in sales.
At times, it is more important to have an excellent manager rather than someone who is a "guru" in your product line.  A strong manufacturing manager with skills in machining and assembly would fit in well with most hydraulic manufacturers.

Therefore, PSC has placed professionals from outside the industry with related skills and has also placed people with companies that are not in hydraulics.  Fluid handling and fluid controls, torque converters, gearing, transmissions, engines, and actuators are good examples where skill sets overlap.

A few of the companies PSC has worked with in related industries include:

bulletGraco
bulletHypro
bulletAllied Signal
bulletSullair
bulletFrance
bulletGould
bulletIngersoll Rand
bulletCleveland Gear
bulletFunk

   About Dan Schauer.....

On a personal note, Dan and his high school sweetheart have 2 children - one a graduate of Purdue University and the other of the University of Wisconsin system.  They also have 3 "other children" who were foreign exchange students living with the family for 1 year each.  Dan loves to play tennis 3 times a week, is an avid cross-country skier, and he and his wife enjoy biking on their tandem recumbent.  They love foreign travel and have been particularly impressed with Latino cultures.  If you have any adventure travel activities to share (whitewater rafting, scuba diving, climbing, mountain biking, etc), Dan would love to hear about them.
